Hats

It is school policy that a suitable hat, either a brim or legionnaire style, be worn when playing in the sun or participating in sports.  Children without hats are not allowed out in the sun.  Suitable hats are available through our Tuckshop. Caps are not suitable protection and this school is a cap-free zone.

 Head Lice

Every year many schools report a significant number of students have head lice.  Please check your child’s hair on a regular basis and ensure that children keep their hair and scalp clean.  Children found with head lice may be excluded until treated.  If head lice are discovered in a class, a note will be sent home informing all families to be aware, check and treat if necessary.

There are a number of treatments available from pharmacies to treat head lice.

Health Nurse

The School Health Nurse has regular visits to school.  All Prep, Year 1 and Year 7 pupils are checked annually for a variety of possible health and medical problems.  Pupils in other classes may also be seen at this time upon recommendation from class teachers or parents.

Homework

It is school policy for homework to be set on a regular basis.  Homework exercises will take the form of revision of work, learning number facts, spelling, and completing project or assignment work.  All children should read for at least 10mins each night.  Home practice of school tasks is valuable if a sincere attempt is made and homework is completed in a quiet setting away from interruptions (eg. television, stereo, and computers).  Homework, when given, is expected to be done neatly and handed in on time.  Homework will be corrected as part of class routines.
