Early Arrival of Students Early Arrival Children are discouraged from arriving at school before 8:15 a.m. Children who arrive at school before 8:00 a.m. must sit in our Covered Play Area until 8:00 a.m. Children are not allowed to borrow sports gear before school or play with their own sports gear as we do not provide playground supervision before school starts. We seek your assistance and co-operation to ensure that children arrive at a suitable time. Late Arrival Children who arrive after 8.55am must report to the office to collect a late slip which is presented to their teacher. Education Week Education Week is celebrated in Queensland State schools in May each year. This gives our school community the chance to celebrate and highlight the activities in our school by encouraging greater community participation in our school. Emergency Contacts Please ensure that addresses, phone numbers and emergency contact numbers are kept current in case we need to contact you in an emergency. As parents you have a responsibility to your child and the school to keep us informed of changes. Please ensure all relevant details are accurate and up to date with reference to health details and family situations. Enrolments All children new to the school or beginning school must enrol in accordance with Education Queensland guidelines. Students enrolling in preschool, or transferring from non-government Queensland schools or from interstate or other national schools, must present and original or copy of their birth certificate to help verify personal details. Students who are transferring from another Queensland State School are usually not required to present their birth certificates. Parents should report to the administration area and complete an enrolment form. Parents will receive a copy of the Parent Information Handbook, Book List, Tuckshop Menu and ordering instructions. Parents will be shown around the school by the Principal or Administrative Officer. The parents and child will be taken to the correct classroom and introduced to the teacher. Excursions and Camps The school encourages educational trips which broaden the educational experiences of the children. Such trips are closely associated with regular classroom instruction and programs and utilise the community and regional resources as part of the curriculum. P & C endorsement is required before excursions are approved. Trips are well planned, supervised, and conducted on accredited buses. On occasions, parents assist with private transport. As such, all pupils are encouraged to participate in these excursions. Parents will be advised of full details regarding itinerary, program, and cost of each excursion planned. |
